| Sodality Of Saint Dominic Savio is a Brotherhood of young catholic boys who serves at the altar of God. We are under the St. James Parish At Santiago City,Isabela. Being proceeded by Rev. Fr. | This is the SSDS Official Emblem/Logo. The Eigth Rays Symbolizes our eigth degrees which are Page, Squires,1st-4th Degree, Grand Knight, and Supreme Knight. The Sodality Of SAint Dominic Savio is the Official Name of Our organization under the St. James Parish. We Are under the priest of La Salette which the hammer and pincher symbolizes. We Are centered to God And Jesus and the Eucharist which the bread and wine symbolizes. | Memorial: 6 May; formerly 10 March Profile: One of ten children of a blacksmith and seamstress. Protege of Saint John Bosco. Altar boy at age 5. At 12 he entered the Oratory School preparatory to becoming a priest. Well-liked and pious, his health forced him to give up his dream of the priesthood. He died at age 15. His dying words: "What beautiful things I see!" His birthplace is now a retreat house for teenagers; the home where he grew up in Morialdo is now a retreat house for children. The final house in which he lived is the home in Mondonio where the Savio family moved when he was 10, and where he eventually died. Here you can see his father's metal shop, and his mother's tailoring shop. His tomb is in the basilica of Mary, Help of Christians in Turin, not far from the tomb of his mentor, teacher and biographer, Saint John Bosco. | St. Michael the Archangel The Jews regarded Michael as the special protector of Israel, and in Christian usage he became the protector of the church. In the prayers after low mass, he is accordingly invoked to be 'our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil,' and is referred to as the 'captain of the Heavenly Host' because of what John tells us about him in the Apocalypse (12:7 to 9:): "And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon... And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." In the offertory anthem of the mass for the dead, Michael is charged with the care of all departed souls that he "the holy standard bearer (may) introduce them to the holy light, which thou didst promise of old to Abraham and to his seed." The main feast is, of course, on Michaelmas Day (September 29th), but on May 8th a lesser feast is observed to commemorate the appearance of St. Michael on the summit of Mount Gargano in Apulia during the time of Pope Gelasius (492-6). |
